La batterie est le nerf de la guerre du Fairway Driver : sans batterie, pas de démarrage possible ! Il est donc essentiel d'avoir une batterie d'un ampérage suffisant (95 à 110 Ah) en bon état et suffisamment chargée : il faut pouvoir à la fois faire tourner le démarreur et alimenter les bougies de préchauffage!
Lorsque vous ferez l'acquisition de votre taxi, il y a de fortes chances pour qu'on vous le livre avec une batterie en fin de vie : ce n'est pas une mauvaise idée d'investir sans tarder dans l'achat d'une batterie neuve.
Mais ce n'est pas tout, car sur le Fairway, même une batterie neuve chargée fini tôt ou tard par se décharger, surtout si vous laissez votre taxi une semaine immobile. Un 2ème accessoire indispensable, c'est le coupe-batterie qui permet de débrancher la batterie du véhicule sans avoir à utiliser une clé anglaise ! (Mais il faut penser à faire le tour du véhicule pour fermer les portes, car la fermeture centralisée est alors désactivée.)
Au cas où la nouvelle batterie serait légèrement plus grande et n'entrerait pas dans le support de fixation d'origine, pas de panique : on peut substituer au support d'origine une cornière tenue par 2 tiges filetées fixées en biais, après avoir perçé 2 trous dans la carrosserie intérieure du moteur pour assurer le passage des tiges filetées. On trouve cet ensemble de cornière et tiges filetées sous le nom de "battery hold down clamp bracket" chez XpressCarParts.

The battery is crucial in a Fairway Driver: no battery - no start! It is therefore essential to have a heavy duty battery of sufficient amperage (95 to 110 Ah) in good condition and sufficiently charged: it must be able to supply power to both the ignition glow plugs and the starter motor at the same time!
When you purchase your taxi, it is most likely that the battery supplied with it is at the end of its life: it's not a bad idea to invest without delay in a new heavy duty battery.
But that's not all, because on the Fairway, even a fully loaded battery will sooner or later discharge, especially if you leave your taxi stationary for a lengthy period. Another essential item is the battery cut off switch that allows you to disconnect the battery from the vehicle without having to use a spanner! (But you must think of walking around the vehicle to lock all the doors because central locking is then disabled.)
If the new battery is slightly larger and doesn't fit within the original mounting bracket, don't worry: you can replace the original support with a bracket held by two threaded rods attached at an angle, after drilling two holes in the inner flange pannel of the engine bay to ensure the passage of the threaded rods.
