Installation d'un taximètre

Installation of a taximeter

1. Choice of taximeter

We chose the Cygnus MR200 taximeter in preference to the subsequent models MR300, MR320 or MR350 because there is no need to enter a PIN code to operate it. This is particularly convenient when the taxi is equipped with a battery cut-off switch, which would require entering the PIN code each time the battery is reconnected.

2. Installation of the taximeter :

Check if the taxi has a taximeter bracket at the front of the roof console.
If not, get a Cygnus taximeter with the mounting bracket that goes with it.

3. Connecting the taximeter :

The taximeter bracket has 6 wires :

  1. Black wire = battery ground, or (-) terminal
  2. Red wire = permanent positive, or battery (+) terminal
  3. Purple wire = lighting the roof taxi sign lamps, connects to pin 86 of the relay
  4. Blue wire = lighting the "For Hire" lamp of the side taxi sign
  5. Yellow wire = lighting the "Hired" lamp of the side taxi sign
  6. White wire = plugs into the counter pulse sensor

We notice that a relay is interposed between the taximeter and the lamps of the roof taxi sign, because of the high amperage.
This device is not necessary between the taximeter and the lamps of the side taxi sign.
